Barik and mota grinds

Besan is the product this mill was built on. Sh. Shakti Khullar Ji set up a small besan unit around 1960 and named it Todarmal after his father, and four generations later it is still the line the mill is judged on.

We mill besan from chana in two grinds, and the right one depends entirely on what you are making. Barik is the fine grind. It hydrates smoothly and gives a clean finish, which is what batters, pakoras, sweets and mithai work need, and it is the grind most retail buyers mean when they ask for besan. Mota is the coarser grind, used where texture is the point rather than smoothness. Mota is a seasonal line, so availability moves through the year.

Milling and freshness

Besan loses condition faster than most buyers expect. We mill against orders rather than holding long stock, which keeps the aroma and the binding behaviour consistent from batch to batch. It is also why lead time depends on the size of the order rather than being fixed.

Pack sizes and bulk options
